Sylvania (Ohio) Country Club, the course where the first meeting of what was to become GCSAA, plans a series of events this year to celebrate its centennial anniversary.

A group of men founded the course, then called Sylvania Golf Club, in 1916 with $30,000. The first event, held on June 10, was an outdoor gala featuring vintage cocktails from the era of 1916. Ten more centennial events are planned throughout the year.

The National Association of Greenkeepers of America (NAGA), which would later become GCSAA, had its first meeting at Sylvania on Sept. 13, 1926.
